Having my thyroid removed in Late July. I’m extremely nervous and scared about the whole ordeal. I’ve got upward to 15 to 30 nodules on my thyroid, and thyroid cancer runs in the family. I don’t really know what questions to ask and I think that’s my greatest fear. Fear of the unknown. I’m just reaching out to others who may understand.
I just had mine removed last week. I think the biggest questions will be life after thyroidectomy. Mine went very well-no complications and I came home several hours later. My calcium levels dropped, so they increased my calcium. My levothyroxin was also increased. Healing and recovering now and going back to work next Monday.
I had my thyroid removed last August. I feel normal again. No more muscle weakness and anxiety. Its important to find balance and eat well, live well, learn to say no and not do too much. This is hard for me but I’m learning. Just turned 50 and want to keep feeling well. Good luck.
