Watch as Brooke shares with the the world, when she learned she needed a thyroidectomy.  A thyroidectomy is an operation that involves the surgical removal of all or part of the thyroid gland. These are often done when a patient has thyroid cancer or some other condition of the thyroid gland (such as hyperthyroidism) or goiter.

*Note: Oftentimes, people who have a thyroidectomy or RAI treatment, can still experience hypothyroidism symptoms. Removing or killing your thyroid doesn’t always mean that you will be cured or relieved of all the symptoms you experienced before treatment. Sometimes, different and opposite symptom can occur.
